Working Visa (Subclass 457)

This visa allows people to work in Australia for 1-4 years. To qualify for this temporary working visa following conditions apply:

1. Be sponsored by an employer to fill a nominated position;
2. Have skills, qualifications, experience and an employment background which match those required for the position;
3. Have English language skills equivalent to band score of 5 across the four test components in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test;
4. Be eligible for any relevant licenses or registration required for the nominated position;
5. Demonstrate that you are to be paid at least the minimum salary level (A$45,200 as at July 2009) that applies at the time a decision is made on your visa.

Retirement Visa (Subclass 405) 


The Retirement Visa Program enables people over 55 years of age who are able to support themselves financially to spend some retirement years in Australia. The Retirement visa provides you with the opportunity to work part-time and enjoy a relaxed and rewarding lifestyle in Australia. To be eligible for a retirement visa you will have to satisfy following conditions:

1. The main applicant must be over 55 years of age at time of application;
2. The applicants must financially be able to support you and your spouse (if applicable);
3. The applicants must meet health and character check before the visa is granted;
4. The applicant must have access to a minimum net income of AUD65,000;
5. The applicant must be able to make a designated investment of AUD750,000.

Visiting Visa (·ÃÎÊǩ֤£©

There are a number of visas for people who want to visit Australia, including sight-seeing, leisure activities/entertainment, visiting friends or relatives, and business purpose. People can not work under this visa class. Those visas include

• Single entry short-stay visa: People can only stay in Australia for no more than 3 months.
• Multiple entry short-stay visa: The visa may be valid for up to 5 years during which people may travel to Australia as many times as they want.
• Long-stay visiting visa: This visa will allow people to stay in Australia for more than 3 months on any single entry. The visa is normally no more than 12 months.

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

An ETA is equivalent to a visa, but there is no stamp or label in your passport and there is no need for you to visit an Australian visa office to submit an application. An ETA is valid for a period of 12 months or until your passport expires (whichever is sooner) and will permit multiple entry to Australia, providing no single visit exceeds 3 months.

Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) 

The Working Holiday Program provides a wonderful opportunity for self-sufficient and enthusiastic young people to spend up to 12 months exploring Australia. You are also allowed to take temporary employment.
This visa allows young people to travel and work in Australia for up to 12 months. Currently Australia welcomes over 85,000 working holiday makers traveling and working in Australia every year.
To qualify for this temporary working visa you will be between age of 18 - 30 (inclusive) and are a nationality of one of the following countries. You must also have sufficient funds, e.g. AU$5000, to support yourself on arrival and between jobs.
